Station Road drainage update

This has been an issue since before I became a councillor in 2021. It continues to be a problem and at times I have felt as though I have got lost in some of the blocked drainage pipes myself however after two road closures and investigative works there is a finally a diagnosis which seems reasonable and works ordered.

Please see below – there is also some pretty cool CCTV footage. It’s thought one of the pipes had a trench cut through it and another had collapsed.

Message from officers,

I had a productive meeting with Councillor Hathorn.

With regards to Station Road, Histon please can the following be ordered:-

  • Gully outside no.31 – break/collapse in lateral pipework (see survey link for distance to collapse) Locate collapse, excavate, and replace broken pipework.
  • Gully outside no.33 – break/collapse in lateral pipework (see survey link for distance to collapse) Locate collapse, excavate, and replace broken pipework.
  • Gully outside old Health Centre – Renew cover and frame so cleansing can then be undertaken. (Preferably at the same time)

I do not know the area that well, but I suspect another road closure may be required as some covers and gullies could not be accessed or lifted, please can these works be ordered urgently and the order number provided to myself with proposed timescale for completion.

It would be amazing to finally see resolution to this. Fingers crossed, it takes a while to order a road closure so nothing is going to be fast but we are hopefully moving towards action.
