More good news for Histon & Impington

DSC03648Every year the County Council makes available a fund, the Local Highways Initiative (LHI) from which parish councils etc may secure funding for local highways schemes. They are jointly funded schemes and are good ways for parish councils to leverage their own funding to secure additional investment.

Histon & Impington Parish Council has a good record in bidding for LHI funds and in recent years they have been used for footpaths improvement, the Baptist Church junction improvement, the widened footpaths and cycle parking outside the St Andrew’s Centre (pictured above) and the Station Road/High Street junction tidy up.

This year’s scheme, further improvements for Station Road between the Cenotaph and Chequers Road are about to be implemented. Click here for the relevant Parish Council announcement.

Next year’s scheme is up for approval at the Highways & Community Infrastructure Committee this week and it looks likely that it will get through. This one will continue the work to improve local walkways so that people have safe ways of getting about the community on foot.
