Mayoral Candidate Lorna Dupre Announced

Lorna Dupre is our candidate for Combined Authority Mayor in the local elections on May 1.

In her acceptance speech Lorna Dupre began by stating as she has throughout her campaign that she believes the powers the government are giving Combined Authority Mayors are far too wide sweeping for one person and that anyone who seeks those powers and that level of control for themselves is probably by definition not the right person for the job.

If Lorna were elected the first thing she would do would be to try to redistribute those powers to provide more democratic accountability so that local people have a voice in important decisions.

Lorna is a great candidate I have worked with her and been really impressed. Lorna is committed, hardworking, completely democratic, always prepared to listen and to think always interested in what the views of real people are. She is also a phenomenal team player, able to really get the best out of people.

We await the manifesto but I know Lorna is passionate about a greener, fairer, more caring Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, that she really understands the challenges Cambridgeshire faces and I look forward to reading what she has to say about her vision for 2025 and beyond.
