Bus Franchising Moves a Step Closer

Yesterday the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority Transport committee discussed the results of the bus franchising consultation.

There were over 1600 responses.

Forty-two per cent of responses strongly supported franchising, with a further 21 percent tending to support, putting support at 63 percent of responses. Eighteen percent of responses neither supported nor opposed, while seven percent tended to oppose and a further seven percent strongly opposing.

The Committee agreed unanimously to recommend franchising to the Mayor. The decision lies with the Mayor who will make that decision on February 6.

Amongst other things this could mean for the first time common sense decisions such as aligning the cost of travel from all Park and Ride sites is possible alongside the Combined Authority having full access to travel information and integrated ticketing so that your can change buses or mode of transport for example to electric scooters on a single ticket.
